Manage Licenses

Licenses are required to access and utilize specific features and functionalities of A10 Control and registered Thunder devices. By default, licenses in A10 Control are created and managed using the Global License Manager (GLM), which requires valid GLM credentials. For more information, see A10 Control Licensing.

Prerequisites

• A valid A10 GLM account to create and manage licenses.
• GLM connectivity (port 443, DNS/NTP reachability).
• Thunder device registered with A10 Control.
• Network connectivity from A10 Control and Thunder devices to GLM.
• Correct user role assignment (Controller-Admin vs Organization-Admin).

License Activation Workflow

To configure and activate a license in A10 Control, perform the following steps:

1. Configure the License Manager in A10 Control with Controller scope. For more information, see Configure License Manager .

2. Create a license in GLM Portal.

   1. Log in to GLM Portal and navigate to Licenses > + License.
   2. Under Basic, provide or select:
      • Name, Description, Organization, Reason.
      • Platform:
        • A10 Control Standard
        • A10 Control ADO
        • RHEL Support
        • Capacity FlexPool
        • Instance FlexPool
      • Product, License SKU, Quantity, Starts At, Set an expiration date (30/60/90 days, 1 year, Custom).
   3. Assign Authorized Users.
   4. (Optional) Add Notes.

   5. Click Create License.

      The license appears in the GLM Overview - Info tab.

3. Export License from GLM and Import in A10 Control. For more information, see Import License .

4. Activate the license with the Controller scope.

   A10 Control License

   • Activations created on this license by Organizations when license is added to it.
   • No device CLI required.
   ADO App License

   • Activations created on this license by Organizations when license is added to it.
   • No device CLI required.
   RHEL Support License

   RHEL license activation on ACOS device from A10 control is supported through A10 Control License Manager (ALM).

   RHEL license support is only available at Controller level.

   1. Export RHEL License from GLM and Import in A10 Control. For more information, see Import License

   2. ACOS device can pull the RHEL license from ALM. Run the following CLI command on thunder device to pull the RHEL license from ALM:
      

      glm interval <num>
      glm use-mgmt-port
      glm token vThXXXX
      glm enterprise <A10_Control_Management_Interace_IP>
      glm enterprise-request-type [fqdn | self-signed | self-signed-pull-cert]
      glm port <num>
      glm appliance-name <string>
      glm allocate-bandwidth <num>
      glm send license-request

   For more information, see GLM User Guide.

   1. Verify the activation on Thunder device using the following command:

   show license-info

   Check the Billing Serials and other license details.

   2. Verify the activation in A10 Control, navigate to License Management > License Manager > License section > expand the license row > review the Activations. For more information, see License Management .

   FlexPool License

   Activations created by Thunder device irrespective of how the license is pushed. It could be through A10 Control or Device CLI.

   1. Run the following commands on the Thunder device:

      glm interval <num>
      glm use-mgmt-port
      glm token vThXXXX
      glm enterprise <A10_Control_Management_Interace_IP>
      glm enterprise-request-type [fqdn | self-signed | self-signed-pull-cert]
      glm port <num>
      glm appliance-name <string>
      glm allocate-bandwidth <num>
      glm send license-request

   2. Verify the activation on Thunder device using the following command:

      show license-info

      Check the Billing Serials and other license details.

   3. Verify the activation in A10 Control, navigate to License Management > License Manager > License section > expand the license row > review the Activations. For more information, see License Management .

5. Add Thunder device licenses for FlexPool allocation with Organization-Admin scope. For more information, see Add License .

   NOTE:

   RHEL licenses are not supported with the Organization-Admin scope.
